TSU renews pact with DOLE as job placement office

THE Tarlac State University (TSU) over the weekend renewed its ties with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as an institutionalized job placement office (JPO).

DOLE regional director Zenaida Angara-Campita reported to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the DOLE and TSU for this joint endeavor.

Under the MOA, the DOLE shall provide technical assistance on various employment services such as talent-mapping, career advocacy, employment coaching, labor market information (LMI), and livelihood programs.

The labor department shall likewise develop and maintain performance-based and gender responsive indicators to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the National Employment Service Facilitation Networks (NESFNs).

TSU, for its part as a JPO, shall provide non-fee charging employment facilitation services to its students and graduates in coordination with the Tarlac City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

It shall likewise provide LMI referral and placement services for local employment as well as initiate and organize job fairs under the guidelines set by the DOLE.

Aside from employment facilitation services, TSU-JPO shall also facilitate the screening, evaluation, processing, training, and provision of livelihood projects and self-employment programs and services.

As a school-based JPO, TSU will also proactively take role in addressing jobs mismatch through the provision of career advocacy and employment coaching services to its students.

Lastly, it will coordinate and promote the adoption of the labor department’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and other similar youth programs for poor but deserving students. (PR)
