REPRESENTATIVES of Feed the Children-US in Oklahoma City visited the Philippines last July 16-20 to meet the children and other beneficiaries.

The representatives, namely, Dr. Scott Killough, the vice president for International Operations; and Pamela Vanias, senior program officer for Education and Livelihood, together with new country director Kennedy B. Tuazon, went to communities and schools where Feed the Children implemented its programs.

It was a remarkable event for Feed the Children-Philippines whose outcome of the visit affirmed their efforts in program implementation in the communities and schools where they served.

Feed the Children’s implementation is steered through five pillars--nutrition, health and water, education, livelihood and disaster response.

The group promotes Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) where people are trained the discipline of savings and capital formation.

They also introduced bio-intensive gardening (BIG) in all the schools where they are given garden tools.

Water, sanitation and health (WaSH) advocacy is enhanced by sustaining organizing children to become Wash promoters in the schools and communities.

Rain Water Tank Collectors were built in Barangay Guba, Cebu City through the support of Feed the Children’s partnership with Office Depot Foundation.

In Cebu City, Feed the Children supported seven schools including the mountain community of Barangay of Guba.

Since Health and Nutrition is also a major priority that Feed the Children is focusing into, the representatives also visited the regional program coordinator of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) 7, Dr. Parolita Mission.

During the visit in the field and schools, beneficiaries are thankful for the projects and programs of Feed the Children since 1989.

Feed the Children Philippine Team thanked all the local government partners and the school administrators who welcomed and provided insights to representatives of Feed the Children.
