WHAT’S it like to turn six decades? We’ll ask SM which celebrated an #AweSM 60 recently.
Flashing back, how can one forget that shoe store on Carriedo St. (Manila) where the entire populace lined up for all kinds of footwear? (Me included!)
It was in 1958 when SM founder Henry Sy conceptualized this shop, little thinking that it would excel, and expand several thousandfold all over the country! Fast forward to 2018, and SM Malls continue to dazzle and delight customers with fun experiences, interactive activities and visual attractions!
Here at SM’s newest Cebu mall—SM Seaside City Cebu, a merry month of May tradition, the “Santacruzan” took place with appropriate pomp and pageantry. From the St. Pedro Calungsod Chapel, where the procession commenced to the Entertainment Area, the #AweSM floral theme greeted the guests.
A grand entrance was made by the regal Reina Emperatriz, her sagalas, and an entourage of teens and little reinas, marching down the catwalk in gorgeous gowns!
The #AweSM highlight was when Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale toasted SM’s 60 years, amid applause and cheers!

That’s what family, friends and picnic-lovers enjoyed at the Mandani Bay grounds one summer day.
This was just a peek into Mandaue’s Mandani Bay lifestyle once the billion-dollar complex is realized. As early as this year, investors can anticipate the Boardwalk, which will host dining and retail spaces along the 500-meter area directly facing the Mactan channel.
The summer afternoon event, called “BBQ at the Park,” afforded families ample bonding time through games and kite-flying, dining etc. Since this is just the start of many more happenings, we shall certainly look forward to them!
