GLOBAL Business Power Corp. (GBP) was recently cited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 and the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc. (PCAPI) for its continued commitment to protect the environment.

GBP received the National Greening Program and the adopt-an-estero/waterbody program awards during the Gawad Tugas Awards Night held at the Cebu Grand Convention.

Now on its fourth year, DENR 7’s Gawad Tugas Award seeks to recognize groups and institutions for their contributions towards effective environmental management and development.

As a National Greening Program awardee, GBP was recognized for its Kabilin program, while its adopt-a-river program bagged the adopt-an-estero/waterbody program award.

Meanwhile, GBP also earned recognition from PCAPI at the group’s annual convention in Bacolod City. Its Cebu operations received the mother nature award and the outstanding pollution control officer (PCO) award for Engr. Daizy Alcoba.

The company’s Panay operations also received a certificate of recognition for the success story on solar power system.

It also won the best in CSR (corporate social responsibility) award for success story for its Jaro river cleanup program.

“Care for the environment has been one of the core values of GBP. We are conscious in striking a balance between our operations and the environment, that is why we do not settle with just compliance, we go beyond compliance,” said Engr. Leah Diaz, GBP’s first vice president-Cebu operations.
