‘Contract killer’ dies in shootout with cops

AN ALLEGED gun-for-hire or “contract killer” was killed by policemen in a raid in Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said Friday, August 3.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the slain suspect as Marvin Tapsin alias Abdurahman, 48.

She said Tapsin was arrested after serving of a search warrant around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, in Poblacion village, Kalawi town.

Galvez said the suspect refused to open the door of his house and opened fire when the team of policemen broke in after notifying him they are serving search warrant for violation of the firearms law.

The information officer said the suspect was hit and wounded when the raiding team returned fire.

She said the suspect was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive.

The raiding team recovered a caliber .45 pistol with five live ammunition and a grenade at the residence of Tapsin, Galvez said. (SunStar Philippines)
