Water supply at the city's east service area is seen to improve as the construction of the east pipeline is set to start.
A groundbreaking was held Friday, August 3, 2018 for the East Pipeline connecting the water plant in Baungon, Bukidnon to the Camaman-an reservoir, and is expected to improve supply to 50,000 households or around 30,000 people.
“We believe that this 600 millimeter pipe to be laid along the South Diversion Road in barangays Taguanao, Macasandig and Camaman-an Reservoir, will improve water pressure leading to improved water distribution and in an impactful way, lead to improvement of quality of life for Kagay-anons,” Mikkel Guetierrez said, the chief operation officer of the Metro Pacific Water Investments Corporation.
The pipeline will be turned over and operated by the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD).
Contractors High Valley Multi-purpose Cooperative and JH Patawaran Construction Co. will jointly construct the 9 kilometer pipeline, while E.C. Structural Composites Inc. will undertake the Camaman-an Reservoir retrofitting and waterproofing.
The facility is expected to initially supply an additional 20 million liters per day of treated water to benefit the east service area from Lapasan to Tablon during its 1st year of operations.
The groundbreaking was attended by the COWD board of directors and employees, MetroPac executives, and City Mayor Oscar Moreno.
