A BIGGER cash prizes await winners in the 33rd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival “Dula Kadayawan,” formerly known as Tribal Games, that will unfurl on August 17 at the People's Park in Davao City.

Organizer Tomas Jose Iñigo bared this in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao, said the Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO) has increased the overall champion cash prize to P80,000.

The next two placers will receive P70,000 and P50,000 while consolation prize of P30,000 will go to the fourth and fifth placers.

“Grabe ngayon ang support for the tribal games compared to last year,” Iñigo said, pertaining to the support of the Kadayawan Execom and the SDD-CMO.

Winners will also receive medals.

Indigenous People (IP) tribes Bagobo Tagabawa, Bagobo Klata, Obu Manovu, Matigsalog and Ata will vie in 10 traditional tribal games including siklo, bibinayo, rice pounding, karang, sosakoro, kokasing, tug of war, pana, salupot and bubuntog.

Muslims or Moro tribes including Iranun, Kaagan, Maranaw, Maguindanaon and Sama will compete in sipa salama, sipa sa manggis and tug of war.

Iñigio said the event will open with its traditional tribal ritual.

The Dula Kadayawan is being conducted annually to celebrate the rich culture of the Lumad and Moro.
