Surprise PNP drug test yields negative

THE unannounced drug test for the police anti-narcotics operatives in Northern Mindanao late last month yielded negative results, the Northern Mindanao police said over the weekend.

Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, police regional director for Northern Mindanao, said the 1,000 policemen assigned to the different drug enforcement units in the region tested negative for drug use.

The surprise drug test was held last July 27 during the first anti-illegal drugs summit at the regional police headquarters at Camp Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

"I felt doubly proud of our operatives for this result," Pacleb said.

"It only shows that we have employed the right personnel for the job and once again affirmed that our operatives are worthy of public trust as shown in their unsullied record," he added.

Superintendent Surki, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), said drug enforcement units are "special police unit whose personnel have undergone stringent selection process to ensure that each personnel who will compose the unit possesses an unblemished service reputation and character beyond suspicion."

"The surprise drug test is in compliance to our internal cleansing program to ensure that our personnel, particularly our drug enforcement units personnel are drug-free," Regional Intelligence chief, PSupt Rodolfo Hernandez said.

"The drug test result has given our operatives moral ascendancy to enforce the law with pride and confidence," he added.
