THE CebuDoc Group launched the first hospital-based aesthetics and laser center in Cebu last Wednesday.

Center for Aesthetics and Laser is the seventh in the 10-point development plan laid out by Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal III, president and chairman of the CebuDoc Group.

“Hospitals should be a friendly place. Even if you don’t want to be sick, you go there,” said Larrazabal. “The wellness area is an area you go to prevent illness. We thought the best way to launch this is to have an aesthetics and laser center. As you know, people now, aside from wanting to be healthy, they want to look and feel young as well.”

Doctors in the hospital-based aesthetics and laser center are board-certified plastic surgeons and dermatologists. It is led by Dr. Fremont John Base, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Cebu, and Dr. Marie Antoinette Cabahug, one of the authorities in dermatology.

“We want our patients not just looking good but also feeling good about themselves. We, as a center for aesthetics and laser, will walk these patients through this journey. To the new, improved, and the more powerful versions of themselves,” said Base.

Cabahug said that the goal of the center is to provide Cebuanos and neighboring cities in Visayas and Mindanao state-of-the-art surgical and non-surgical aesthetic treatment using the most innovative techniques available, as well as helping patients achieve their individual goals through safe aesthetic care.

Since the center is hospital-based, the public is assured of quality service from properly trained dermatologists and surgeons. The surgeries also pass the standards required by the Department of Health (DOH).

“Since we’re board-certified dermatologists, we assure the patient that we’ll take care of them in a safe and ethical treatment,” said Cabahug.

The different services to look for in the center are skincare, body sculpting, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries.

Plastic surgery offers procedures that can be done under local anesthesia such as rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, otoplasty, chin augmentation, scar revisions and excisions.

Base said that there are certain indications for every procedure that they have to follow, which includes age limitation.

The treatments are provided by certified fellows of the Philippine Dermatologic Society and the Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.

Larrazabal said that the demand for the services has grown. As the population increases, so does the demand for such services.

“There are lots of distributors and companies that sell machines that offer the services. We notice that people live longer now compared to 50 years ago. The fact that people live longer, they also want to remain younger as they grow old and healthy as well,” said Larrazabal.

“So we provide this holistic approach to give a complete package not only with external features but wellness as well,” he added.

Larrazabal also believes that the Center for Aesthetics and Laser will promote medical tourism, considered a welcome development for European and American patients.

CebuDoc Group will also develop a center for dental health and center for weight gain.
