Macagba: I hate Mocha

YES, the title speaks for itself and my column will tell you why. I do not even plan to sugarcoat this article talking about any flavored coffee. I am talking about Esther Margaux Justiniano Uson, a dancer, model, blogger who turned out to be a public official.

I am a taxpayer and don’t you ever say that I do not have the right to complain because in the first place she is being paid more than what she is worth. She even has spent much of the people’s taxes as a display in various international trips with the president. Likewise, don’t tell me that I do not have the license to call her out on this because I am an educator for 9 years now and I will dedicate every ounce of passion in me to make sure that my students realize that a trash in government will only produce tons of trash that no citizen deserve.

So considering that she graduated with a degree in medical technology in a reputable University in our country, what competency does she have in helping in the communication aspect of the government? Does she have the quality of experience or the track record to competently serve in the government? Or has she proven to be worthy in serving in the government? How do you expect a pig to fly?

We do have high standards for professional teachers, nurses, lawyers, soldiers or even your future love life, and yet we get someone like her in the government? Tell me, where is justice there? Should we not have higher standards for the people serving our government?

After all the blunders that she has made, should we not expect her to be fired already? In various workplaces, when a common worker does something incorrectly, he faces the consequences of losing his livelihood. Yet we have here a self-entitled person who can’t even admit that she did something wrong and continue to spread lies that ordinary citizens tend to believe in.

But what I cannot grapple is the fact how our government leaders, especially our president, allowed to assign someone like her in the government. I cannot fathom the president’s desire to have a clean and competent government while assigning someone like her. Was she assigned because she helped in his campaign? If it were true, so are we encouraging people to be less competent and work more to strengthen connections instead? After all, there is more weight in connections rather than competence.

Assigning someone like her is an indicator that those in power approved both stupidity and corruption; stupidity because of obvious reasons and corruption because it is a reflection of the bastardization of quality service that citizens deserve and do not receive because of personal political gains. There are better and more competent people than her. I am very confident that student leaders in school, younger and who have not even earned their degrees are way better than her.

The moment we agree that we already have the best in the government, then this country has failed in several levels. We need to educate ourselves even more, be equipped, read more, join healthy conversations, dialogue, and research to come up with the truth.

The future is bright only if we realize that the garbage in the government should be cleaned and thrown away. That garbage cannot educate me what is federalism because I oppose becoming like her who appears to be an empty can with just hollow noise!
