130 PWDs join ‘Angel Walk’ in Bacolod

ABOUT 130 Persons with Disability (PWDs) in Bacolod participated in the “Angel Walk” at SM City Bacolod Thursday, August 2 to mark the annual 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week.

The walk was spearheaded by the Federation of PWDs- Bacolod City, the city’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), and SM City Bacolod.

This year’s NDPR Week, which ran from July 23 to August 3, was anchored on the theme “Kakayahan at Kasanayan Para sa Kabuhayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran.”

In Bacolod, the NDPR Week was spearheaded by the Office of Councilor Em Ang, vice chair of the Bacolod City Council on Disability Affairs, the DSSD, and Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PWDAO).

Ang said the observance of the NDPR Week aims to “advocate, promote, and uphold the rights and privileges of PWDs.”

Other activities included in the weeklong observance were floral offering ceremony before the statue of Apolinario Mabini at the A. Mabini Elementary School last July 23 to mark his birth anniversary, Mass and motorcade last July 27, Forum on PWD Laws at the Bacolod City Government Center last July 31, and Paralympics at the University of Saint La Salle covered court last August 3.
