Kin of kidnapped OFW to meet Duterte

THE family of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Baguio City kidnapped in Libya is set to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte this week.

OFW Eric Rivera’s family together with the Department of Foreign Affairs have yet to issue further details of the kidnapping in Libya which includes two other Filipino workers and a Korean national.

Rivera’s kin were also asked not to divulge any information to the media that would foil any negotiations with the government.

Rivera used to work with a local cable company and was an active civic action member in Baguio City and Benguet Province before leaving for Libya.

According to news reports, the Libyan government is negotiating for the release of the Filipino workers who were kidnapped last month at a water project in the North African.

The Department of Labor and Employment also requested the Libyan government they be allowed to the negotiations aside from investigating the motive behind the kidnapping.

In August 6, Duterte decided to send members of his cabinet to Libya to help secure the release of two Filipinos abducted by an armed group.
