AN ESTIMATED P1.4 million worth of suspected drugs were seized in a drug bust at Barangay 4 in Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon, August 7.
Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, identified the suspects Faisalin Ibra, 21, the target subject and his companion Norhan Caunda, 42, both natives of Marawi City, and temporarily staying at Barangay 31.
Both are newly identified drug personalities.
Estopa said Ibra allegedly sold a shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent for P2,000.
The transaction was done inside a Hyundai Accent vehicle used by the two suspects, Estopa said. However, the car is not registered under their names.
Estopa said they will check with the Land Transportation (LTO) to verify the owner of the car.
Police recovered from them four more sachets of suspected shabu weighing 20 grams and another sachet of shabu weighing 100 grams, the P2,000 marked money, and the car.
Estopa said Ibra has been staying in Bacolod for two months when he sought refuge after the Marawi siege in 2017. He has some relatives here.
Caunda has been living in the city for two years.
But the police have yet to know if when the two suspects started engaging in the illegal drug trade.
Estopa said they conducted the operation against the two suspects after receiving reports through their monitoring.
He said Ibra reportedly gets a supply of illegal drugs from his sources in Bacolod but the police refused to divulge further details about it while they continue to conduct a follow-up operation.
The two suspects distribute their supply in some areas in the city and probably outside Bacolod as well, Estopa said.
Both suspects are detained at the station.
In a media interview, the suspects said they were just forced to sell the illegal drugs.
Estopa said Ibra will be charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs while Caunda will be charged for conspiracy in relation to the illegal drug trade.
Meanwhile, Jose Ronie Dela Cruz of Barangay Mansilingan was arrested in a drug bust in the said village Tuesday after police seized from him suspected marijuana worth P14,000, and the P500 marked money.
Dela Cruz is detained at Police Station 7.
