BSU conducts 2018 AIHR

BENGUET State University (BSU) 2018 Agency In House Review (AIHR), one of the monitoring and evaluation modalities of accomplishments and progress from the research, development, and extension (RDE) programs/ projects/ studies done annually, is ongoing at Northern Philippines Rootcrop Research and Training Center (NPRCRTC) on August 8 to 10.

From the previous year, there is 54.76 percent increase in the total number of researches and proposals that will be reviewed and evaluated in the activity. At present, there are a total of 196 researches and proposals of 70 higher than the total number of presented researches and proposals during the 2017 AIHR.

With the decrease in the number of researches and proposals under the Social AANR/Extension which is 26 compare from 37 in the previous year, Technical and Social Non-AANR/ Education researches and proposals increased over 50 percent with current number of 89 and 80, respectively.

Thirteen evaluators will serve as panelist for the simultaneous session for three days. The panelists/ evaluators established a credible track record in their respective field particularly in horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, agronomy, environmental sciences, biology, veterinary medicine, animal sciences, forestry and environmental management, public and business management, educational management, and other allied fields. Their suggestions and comments will contribute in the improvements and credibility of researches.

Moreover, though many challenges being faced along the implementation of researches especially on the issues of resources, researchers remain motivated to do RDE programs/ projects/ studies which would contribute in the fulfilment of the University’s vision to become “a premier university that delivers world-class education that promotes sustainable development amidst climate change.” The activity also contributes to the community development of the surrounding community and provinces ensuring that the social, economic and environmental policy is addressed.

Carlito Laurean, vice president for Research and Extension, said that, “This 2018 AIHR resulted into higher submission of completed, ongoing researches, and proposals as compared last year. It is also a mechanism in improving methodology and interpretation of researches by researchers. It is also a good venue in identifying information for technology dissemination.”
