LAND Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante led the inauguration on Wednesday, August 8, of the LTO Bongao Extension Office in Bongao, the capital town of Tawi-Tawi.

Galvante said LTO aims to bring its services closer to the people, with the opening of the extension office.

The office is manned by 10 personnel headed by Jose Maria Gonzales.

Lawyer Aminola Abaton, director of LTO regional office in Zamboanga Peninsula, said residents of Bongao and other parts of Tawi-Tawi no longer have to go to Zamboanga City to secure a driver’s license or register a vehicle.

Abaton said the extension office was opened through the initiative and efforts of Bongao Mayor Jimuel Que.

Que, for his part, said construction of the building that houses the LTO office was financed by the 20 percent development fund of the municipal government.

The establishment of the office is provided under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by the Bongao municipal government with the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), provincial government and LTO.
