Abu Sayyaf ‘spotter’ arrested

JOINT police and military operatives have arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf bandit and seized bomb-making components in this southern port city, an official announced Thursday.

Majid Isnilon, 25, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 in Barangay Pasilmanta, according to Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer.

Isnilon has standing warrants of arrest for murder and multiple attempted murder issued by two courts in Zamboanga City.

Galvez said the suspect is also the “spotter” and messenger of Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Hatib Sawadjaan and sub-leader Jamilul Nasalun.

Allegedy seized from the suspect were yellow and green detonating cord, batteries, and grenade.

Galvez said Isnilon was involved in extortion; murder of Ronald Juela at Sitio Niyog-Niyog, Barangay Muti, Zamboanga City; strafing of Rural Bus Transit along Kilometer 57, Barangay Buenavista, Zamboanga City; and, massacre of eight in Siromon Island, Barangay Dita, Zamboanga City.

He was turned over to the custody of the Zamboanga City Police.
