I believe they will be able to win gold kase (because) the Philippines is one of the stronger teams in the Asian. The talent we are sending has national team experience already so I think with talent and experience we will fare well in the Asian games. Coach Yeng is one of the best coaches from the ph and also with experience with coaching the national team. So I believe he will put in a offense that is basic but will maximize the talent that he has in the team.
Asiam Games and similar big sporting events benefit teams that have the luxury of athletes spending time working together as a team. Our current RoS backed team to the Asian Games does not have that luxury. Hence, it will be a tall order for them to make it past the quarterfinals. It will be exceeding expectations if they make it to the medal rounds or even just in the semis.
I do not think the composition of the Asian Games will be competitive. These players were assembled in short notice and not enough practice time for the team. Clearly, this team was organized for the sake of sending a delegation to the Asiad.
Experience. No question our Philippine squad will fight it out and be very competitive. A gold medal will be very tough to capture with a limited preparation for our team and with all the tough teams participating but nonetheless they will fight until the end and still aim for the much coveted prize. I will stil be praying and cheering for them to strike gold.
They need to have an aggressive mindset and place themselves in a must win ball game every single game. Coach Yeng is one of the best coaches in the country and I admire his style. He is a great motivator and for sure it will show on his team in Indonesia Asiad and effort will not be lacking on his players. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity -- a golden ticket for them and surely they will not waste it. Go Pilipinas!
