THE National League of Barangays recognized 5-A Bankerohan barangay captain Edgar Ibuyan Sr. as Barangay Leaguepresident for Davao City last August 7.
According to Vicky Sarcena, City Director of Department of Internal and Local Government (DILG), the vacancy has been resolved immediately because the National League of Barangays planned to convene for their national election on August 27.
“Actually, gikan pud ko ug Manila kay nag-file ko ug candidacy kay magdagan pud ko ug vice president sa National (Actually, I was in Manila to file for candidacy since I will be running for vice president in the National League of Barangays election]),” Ibuyan said in a phone interview with SunStar Davao on Thursday, August 8.
Sarcena said the vice president and auditor positions are still be vacant. They will be having a special election to fill-in the vacancies.
When asked about why no one ran for presidency during the July 30 election of Barangay League, Ibuyan said they were actually expecting January Duterte, the former Barangay League President, to run for president.
“We expect and want her [January Duterte] to run that time,” he said.
Oath-taking of Ibuyan will be led by Davao City Mayor Sarah Z. Duterte-Carpio, however, the schedule has yet to be finalized.
