BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is scheduled to meet the landowner of the private lot at Purok Makawiwili in Barangay Banago to discuss the closure of the residents’ road right of way toward the main road.
Leonardia said he will hold a meeting with the landowner Charles Dumancas anytime to discuss the problem.
“We will try our best to find an amicable solution to this,” he said.
The mayor also talked with the barangay officials to facilitate or assist the affected families.
Last week, several residents in Purok Makawiwili sought the assistance of the city officials after the private landowner closed their road right of way toward the main road.
Serafin Yanguer Jr. had earlier said the landowner developed the area and constructed the concrete wall on July 28.
“They closed it without prior notice to the affected families here. It is very hard for us to reach the main road,” he said. He added about 300 families are affected by the closure.
The affected residents placed a temporary bamboo ladder on the concrete wall so they can reach the main road.
Yanguer said they can also use the other road but it would take longer for them to reach the main road.
On August 1, the affected residents appeared at the regular session to address their problem, but it was not acted immediately because there was no a quorum.
