TAIWANESE medical institutions gathered and shared healthcare technologies to Dabawenyo community at the 2018 Taiwan Healthcare Industry Trade Meeting at Seda Abreeza Hotel, Davao City on Wednesday August 8, 2018.
Five Taiwanese hospitals and a genome company for cancer-profiling presented their advancement in medical technology in order to help the medical industry here in the Philippines.
According to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TETDC) said in a statement the event aims to highlight Taiwan’s cutting edge medical techniques in treating hear loss, cancer care, heart disease and even aiding couples who wish to have babies through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Among the health institutions which participated in the event is ACT Genomics of Taipei which presented the importance of early cancer detection through cancer-profiling.
“We notice that cancer is among of the major disease which affects many Filipinos,” ACT vice president doctor Allen Lai said during the event.
In a data from Cancer Coalition of the Philippines, eleven new cancer cases are reported every day. The coalition also recorded that seven adults die of cancer every hour and eight children die of this deadly disease every day.
In 2014 according to World Health Organization (WHO) 28,700 deaths were recorded for males while 27,900 deaths were recorded for females.
Lai added ACT provides a tailored treatment plan at any given disease stage from cancer risk evaluation and strategic treatment selection to drug resistance and recurrence monitoring.
Lai said with ACT’s vision, he reminded how crucial it is for cancer to be detected early in order for patients to have proper treatment.
