FIRE victims of Thursday’s fire that left 161 families homeless are seeking donations from the public.
A total of 109 houses were razed when fire broke out in Purok 2, Barangay 76-A, Davao City, Davao City Social Service and Development Office (CSSDO) Social Welfare Assistant Maria Luz Farañal said.
Farañal said that on August 9, CSSDO’s kitchen mobile was sent to the area to serve the displaced families. Four sacks of rice, two boxes of noodles, and a box of sardines for their community cooking was also extended.
The fire has affected the following: 22 renters, 30 sharers, and 16 boarders.
There were 16 individuals and 407 total dependents whose houses were razed by the flame.
Some were temporarily staying at the gym of Barangay 37 and at the chapel while some seek refuge at their relatives and friends. The estimated damage of the fire incident reached up to P12.5 million worth of properties.
To date, they are finalizing the report for the distribution of financial assistance or the payroll which will take place next week.
The owners of those houses that were totally damaged will get P10,000 while P5,000 will be given to owners of partially damaged house. The renters will likewise receive P5,000 while sharers and boarders will have P2,000 financial assistance.
Need for donations
Hundreds of displaced fire victims asked assistance for those who have kind hearts to sustain their daily needs and to start rebuilding their houses.
Families are in need of food, clothes, kitchen utensils, beddings, pillow, cash in kind and personal cares, galvanized iron sheet, woods, among others. Any assistance will be highly appreciated.
Donations will be accepted starting today, August 10.
