IN EVERY meal there are desserts. But to those who are conscious of their diets, they tend to lean away from sweets as their main course already took up the calorie intake they set per day.

However, people, especially the Kagay-anons, may start eating without those worries as a new player in the food industry has joined the kitchen.

MONday Cookie Treats and Tuesday Healthy Kitchen had their soft launching last Wednesday, August 8, in Luna Restoranti, Primavera Residences, with the former presenting its colorful and sweet desserts and the latter introducing a new way to enjoy food without causing damage on your carefully planned daily calorie intake.

Established last June 15, MONday Cookie Treats, spearheaded by Chef Mon Cardenas, started as a business selling pasalubong items such as brownies, leche flan, silvanas, and French macaroons before it became the dessert buffet that it is today.

Although, they still sell sweet treats as pasalubong items in its shops located in Laguindingan Airport and in Fill in a Box, Dr. Edna M. Velez Blg., Mabulay Street, Cagayan de Oro City.

Tuesday Healthy Kitchen, on the other hand, started during its soft launching last Wednesday, and is spearheaded by Dr. Reynards Tan.

It offers healthy course meals, thus the name, to customers who are conscious of their diet. Among the food served during its soft launching includes: Pumpkin Soup, with 180 calories; Power Quinoa Salad (366 calories); Creamy Avocado & White Bean Wrap (346 calories); Honey-Soy Grilled Salmon with Adlai Rice (260 calories); Rosemary Chicken with Sweet Potato (296 calories); and Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff in Spinach Fettuccine (368 calories).

According to the World Health Organization, an average healthy person needs 2,000 calories per day. And the total calories in a six-course meal served by Tuesday Healthy Kitchen is 1,816 calories. This leave some for desserts which is served by MONday Cookie Treats.

Cardenas shared that MONday Cookie Treats and Tuesday Healthy Kitchen came to be from an idea of putting different concept per day of a week.

"We got an idea na 'why not finish like the whole week?' Come up with different concepts like, we're coming up with like Wednesday Wings. That's like wings for pulutan bitaw or sa mga uso sa food parks. And then we came up with Saturday Sorbetes, so that's frozen desserts, or Friday Frozen Desserts. So we have those ideas coming up and then we will be able to lay all those plans siguro mga (perhaps) in a few months," Cardenas said.

The chef added that after finishing the whole week concept, they are going to start planning for concepts using the 12 months of a year.

Cardenas also mentioned of their plans to expand their dessert buffet business all over the country.

"Maybe we'll start with concepts using the different months. We'll start with the week sa, i-finish nato namo (we'll finish it first). We're planning to expand our dessert buffet business, like we will cater all around the country," he said.

MONday Cookie Treats and Tuesday Healthy Kitchen also offer delivery services to those who live within or outside the city proper.

Now you can finally eat good food without having to constantly worry over your diet.
