Negros First softball team opens World Series campaign vs Oregon

THE Negros First Little League Softball Team, representing Asia-Pacific, opened their campaign in this year’s Little League Softball World Series against Oregon District 4’s Lake Oswego Girls Softball Little League.

Finishing 5th overall last year, the young Negrense softbelles are looking to win the tournament scheduled August 8 to 15 at Alpenrose Stadium in Portland, Oregon.

The Lizvi Jalandoni-mentored team will have Laira Dianne Silverio, Magdalene Nangan, Jhaycel Roldan, Kyle Marie Matarong, Angel Zyra Motin, Kenchie Tan, Anna Rose Mactbag, Anne Frensbelle Patricio, Neavia Marie Emborniza, Mary Joy Alpitche, Christine Segovia, Anna Leah Dolorfino, April Ann Mongcal and Trisha Karyl Hicayen.

The Negros Occidental-based squad is in Pool B alongside Central Wheelersburg LL of Ohio, Latin America’s Cuauhtemoc LL of Monterrey from Nuevo Leon, Mexico; and Southwest’s Eastbank LL from River Ridge, Louisiana.

In Pool A are Canada’s Layritz LL from Victoria, British Columbia; East represented by Tunkhannock LL from Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania; Europe Africa’ Northwest Czech Republic LL from Prague, Czech Republic; Southeast’s Daniel Boone LL from Gray, Tennessee, and West’s Kirkland LL from Kirkland, Washington.
