NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. attended the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) 6th General Assembly at Makati Shangrila in Manila Friday, August 10, 2018.
It was attended by 26 provincial governors from all over the country.
Governor Hermilando Mandanas of Batangas province and LPP chairman on federalism presented the final draft of the Federal Constitution which was submitted by the Consultative Committee (ConCom) to the President and the Congress.
He also discussed the Supreme Court Decision on the petitions of Mandanas and Garcia on the Internal Revenue Allotment of local government units.
Assistant Secretary Antonio Lambino of the Department of Finance presented the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) Second Package (Corporate Tax Reform) of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program while Executive Director Nilo Raymund Avila presented the Train Package 3.
Atty. John Rex Laudiangco of the Commission on Elections tackled the new Comelec guidelines on the filing of Certificate of Candidacy for the 2019 elections.
The group also discussed their position on the Universal Health Care Act, issues and concerns on education, House Bill on the Creation of Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) facilitated by Commissioner Prospero de Vera of the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) as well as the group’s position on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management which was facilitated by Governor Al Francis Bichara of Albay.
PCOO Assistant Secretary Kris Ablan presented the Freedom on Information while Quirino Governor Junie Cua clarified the concerns on Sangguniang Kabataan Fund.
