KAPAMILYA actress Angelica Panganiban is set to do the daring and antagonist lead role in the Filipino version of “Rubi.”

According to the actress, about 70 percent of the original Mexican version will be retained but the local version will still give more emphasis on family values.

“Ngayon lang po iikot ang isang telenovela sa isang kontrabida. Ang maganda po dito kasi yung kontrabida eh may puso sa pamilya, maiintindihan nyo kung bakit sya masaya at malungkot,” Angelica said.

Though peg in portraying “kontrabida” roles, Angelica is not afraid to be alienated in doing this kind of plot because she believes that it is a challenge as an actress.

“Ito na po ang pinakamahirap na role na nagawa ko kasi one time tatawa tapos pagtalikod iiyak,” she shared. “Ito din yung project na sobra akong confident kasi yung binigay ng ABS lahat ng magagaling na artista. More of excitement yung nararamdaman ko.”

With all her shows and hectic schedule, the “Rubi” star said that getting enough sleep and having presence of mind in spite her busy days is the most difficult part.

“Yung siguro yung pinaka mahirap na stage na napagdaanan ko pero ang saya din po kasi ang dami kong natututunan and nakikilala and as an actress eh naisa pong experience yun. Nakakapagod po pala yun.”

The actress said that she's very happy because she kept on praying for all her projects especially with her role in Rubi.

“Tagal ko ng artista, kung baga naramdaman ko na ngayon na artista pala ako ng ABS-CBN, yung lahat ng pinaghirapan ko for the company and for my self eh nakikita ko na talaga,” she added.

Other casts of “Rubi” include Diether Ocampo, Jake Cuenca, Cherry Gil, Cherry Pie Picache and more. The much-awaited Filipino version is set to air on February 15, 2010 over the Kapamilya network. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
