FIVE policemen assigned to the Pateros municipal station are in hot water as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) directed the start of summary dismissal proceedings against them for alleged indiscriminate firing Wednesday night.

NCRPO Director Roberto Rosales himself ordered the dismissal proceedings against PO1 Albert Gener, Ardie Vergara, Salvador Alfelor, Celso Rey, and Rollie Sambole after they were nabbed for allegedly firing their service firearms during a drinking spree in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Pateros.

“The conduct of these neophyte policemen is shameful. They violated the very essence of their sworn duty to serve and protect. The PNP-NCRPO has no place for them," the NCRPO chief said.

The five policemen it was learned were only recruited to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2008.

Rosales said that aside from the summary dismissal, the five cops will face criminal cases for violation of the gun ban implemented by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and an administrative charge for grave misconduct.

He added that the incident should serve as a warning to all law enforcers not to abuse their authority and be mindful of the fact that that they are there to enforce the law.

The NCRPO, said Rosales, will not tolerate any violation of the law even if they are members of the command. (AH/Sunnex)
