PAMPANGA’S nightlife scene never falls short of options. But just when we thought we’ve already seen all sorts of cool stuff, Draft Pub, the newest concept bar in the City of San Fernando, not only surprises us with extra fine cold pints and well-curated menu, but also takes us to a memorable era worth reminiscing.
The go-to hideaway promises a cozy respite for those who just want to momentarily escape daily duties and swoon and swing to the classic tunes of the 80s and 90s that perfectly match the bar’s dim lights and subdued decor which allows for either conversation or quiet contemplation.
This is what the people need today, more than ever: A spot that allows a more relaxed lounging and drinking, with added bonus of good music, according to its owners, architects Hermel Gulapa and Jason Nicdao and partners Karl Zablan, Prince Velarde and brother Paul.
“When we realized that bars around San Fernando and Angeles City only have a day or two for this kind of concept and vibe where we can enjoy hits from the good old days, we felt that it’s time to do something about it. So, we thought, why not open a bar where we can cater to everyone who appreciates and prefers a proper place for this kind of theme or genre?” Zablan shared.
A self-confessed Gen-X, Nicdao also highlighted that while there are many bars in the area, there isn’t one that caters for the now grown up 90s kids who are rightfully weary of crowded clubs and “too loud” pubs.
Their batchmates, as what he called, deserve a “no fuss no frill” spot where they can enjoy the company of each other, along with good food, affordable drinks, and laid-back ambiance. “And that’s what Draft Pub is all about,” he said.
Contrary to many first impressions about its name, Draft Pub is actually uniquely called as it is because of its architect owners who use drafting as tools in their profession.
“We find it catchy to call it Draft Pub to also pay tribute to our main source of hustle. As a full-time architect who more than often are in need of a night out after a long week of gruelling tasks and workloads, I believe this place is what our fellow Fernandinos and kabalens also thrive for, especially when they feel like taking a trip down memory lane,” Gulapa said.
The architect cum entrepreneur then shared that at Draft Pub, drinks come in abundance. Customers may choose from a wide array of local beers and finely crafted booze available in numerous variants. These, he continued, are best paired with their delectable and not to mention budget-friendly appetizers like Buffalo Wings, Sashimi, Sisig, Dynamite, Sizzling Tofu, Beef Nachos, Fries, Kimchi, and Pizza, among others.
