Itogonia run hits trail August 19

DESPITE the inclement weather, more than 400 trail runners have signed up to test their mettle in three race distances hatched by Active Pinas.

The Itogonia Wild Country Trail Run, the newest trail party in town takes every runner on a nostalgic run through some of Camp John Hay’s old trails all the way to the breathtaking Ampucao Ridgeline.

According to race director Don Santillan, the route is a blend of lightning fast descents to jaw clenching climbs.

“The run will give you front row views of Itogon that you’ve never seen – this is big sky country folks so strap your trustee hydration vests on and tighten those trail runner laces cause this is going to be one wild ride brought to you by some of the coolest and craziest people in trail running,” Santillan added.

The trail run will feature the Lightwater 5-miler wave(8K), Brooks 10-miler wave(16K) and the Amihan 20-miler wave(32K).

Santillan said registration is now ongoing in different locations such as SM Baguio Suntrust Booth(12nn-7pm), Toyville Centermall, Cinco Antonios, Mines View, all in Baguio City and in selected areas in Metro Manila.

Registration fee for the 32km is P2,000; P1,000 for the 16km and P600 for the 8km race.

The race director added that the registration fee is inclusive of race bib, event shirt, finishers’ medal, and other giveaways.

Santillan said 50 free race bibs will be given to bonafide Itogon. Aside from the free race bibs, residents are also entitled to finishers’ certificate, drinks at the finish line, and 10% discount on all Amihan Sports Gear products.

The top five male and female winners of each category will receive a trophy. (Roderick Osis)
