THERE’S no stopping the Spartans of XUHS 1991 from rolling to 5-0 bubble in the ongoing 2018 Xavier University High School-Alumni Basketball Association (ABA) League here.
The Spartans’ latest back-to-back wins were made at the expense of Pacio Valencia-powered 923 and the 1994 Templars of Rocky Calingin.
Veteran guard Anton Pabillore, who lobbed a dagger 3 in defusing Valencia’s team in the homestretch, delivered 10 assists on top of his 10 points, to set the tone for the Spartans’ drubbing of the Templars sparked by another MVP-like performance of Owen Ubay-Ubay.
Eager to lead the Spartans to the top of ABA’s 9th Season challenge, Ubay-Ubay came up with 20 points and 10 rebounds that mattered most in tempering the Templars’ determined effort to fight back.

Also making noise was the vast-improved Stan Borromeo who thrived in the Spartans’ fifth-game triumph off fastbreak play.
