AT LEAST 16 barangays in Bataan are under floodwaters from one foot to four feet deep, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Balanga City said Monday.
According to PDRRMO chief Josefina Timoteo, the seven barangays under floodwater are Almacen, Daungan, Sityo Parayray, Pulo, Saba, Mandama and Purok 1, all in Hermosa town.
Portions of Luakan, Mabini Extension, Saguing, San Ramon, Sta. Isabel and Layac; all in Dinalupihan, are also flooded.
The town of Pilar has two flooded villages – Balut 2 and Wawa.
The national weather bureau has placed Bataan under the orange rainfall warning.
Evacuated at the Luakan National High School were 47 families of 186 persons from barangay Luakan and Saguing in Dinalupihan while seven of 25 individuals at another evacuation center came from San Ramon, also in Dinalupihan.
The barangay road in sitio Macaraeg in Luakan was temporarily closed to traffic after the road was submerged under two feet of flood water when a portion of the dike in the area collapsed.
Fishing bancas remained as the only means of transportation in the villages of Almacen, Daungan, Parayray and Pulo where flood waters rose to more than neck-deep.
There were no reports of landslide, fallen trees and injuries as a result of the floods. Both the Roman and MacArthur highways are passable to all types of vehicles. (Ric Sapnu)
