Business firm to hold economic forum

CLARK FREEPORT - The business sector here will host "The Philippine Economic Prospects for 2010: Between Crises and Opportunities" forum on February 5 at the Mimosa Convention Center.

The forum is organized by the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCADC) in cooperation with Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporated (MACCII) and the REID Foundation.

Professor Emilio Antonio, chairman of the REID Foundation and former dean of Economics of the University of Asia and the Pacific, will share anew his views on the prospects and challenges that the Philippines will be facing this 2010 and how to better prepare ourselves to respond appropriately to these challenges.

"The world economic crisis and the recession... posed some major threats to our struggling economy and held back everything that had been gained in the past year. As if that were not enough, our country was battered by natural calamities... Billions of pesos worth of properties, infrastructures and investments were lost to Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng," Pamintuan said, stressing the need to set priorities straight in the coming year.

The year 2010 brings optimism and a renewed sense of hope for the people with the resurging and recovering economies of first world countries and the upcoming national and local elections that would hopefully bring back confidence and trust in our economy, Pamintuan added.
