PHILIPPINE Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William "Butch" Ramirez, who took a 90-day leave, will have his hands full when he resumes to office starting on Tuesday, August 14.
Dabawenyo Ramirez, in a recent Facebook interview with SunStar Davao, said he will focus on five vital concerns.
These include the constructions and rehabilitations of sports facilities at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Philsports Complex, Baguio Training Camp, all PSC venues, particularly a quality canteen for national athletes.
He also would want to pursue quality foreign exposures of the country's elite athletes; sustain and improve grassroot sports; provide sports education, sciences and sports medicine seminars to national coaches, Department of Education (DepEd) teachers and coaches and selected PSC operations; strengthen organic operation PSC structures to respond to the environment; and genuine community sports.
"During my three-month leave, I gave so much time to research and read about Grassroots Sports and Elite Sports Development especially on why countries succeed and failed in their quest for Olympic medals and strengthen the Community Sports," he said.
The PSC is funding the national teams competing in the 18th Asian Games that will open on Saturday in Indonesia.
