Bacolod police support national ID system

SENIOR Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), supports the national identification (ID) system, claiming that it can help in hunting down criminals.

Ebreo said the national ID system is a big advantage especially in the bank and other government transactions, as well as in solving crimes.

There is no reason that the ID can be tampered because of its security features like the biometrics, retinal scan, and facial configuration, Ebreo said.

Its data privacy is also safeguarded, he added.

Ebreo said people who don’t like it are those with hidden personalities like wanted persons or terrorists.

The Bacolod top cop said it can really help the law enforcers in the campaign against criminalities especially on the apprehension of wanted persons.

Under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act that was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, a unified ID will replace other government IDs. (GYM/SunStar Bacolod)
