THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental has started its cross visits measure among its district field units in the province positioned to boost services and enhance the capability of personnel.

PVO yesterday brought 11 field unit personnel of Provincial Veterinary Field Units in Districts 1 and 3 for a two-day cross visit in District 6, which has five personnel.

Leah Novero, information officer of PVO, said the cross visit is another development strategy to evaluate and observe the best practices among local livestock raisers and farm institutions.

Novero said this is also aimed at further enhancing the technology in other districts by replicating those of other veterinary field units.

“Aside from strengthening the implementation of our programs, the measure is also seen to spur growth among our personnel,” she said, adding that “by exposing them to other districts, they will be inspired more seeing the positive impact of their works to the community.”

Currently, PVO has 32 field unit personnel in all six districts with offices in Toboso for District 1, Sagay City for District 2, E.B. Magalona for District 3, San Enrique for District 4, Hinigaran for District 5, and Kabankalan City and Cauayan for District 6.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena earlier said that PVO District Field Offices have paved way for decentralization, or bringing closer the services to livestock and poultry raisers in the localities of the province.

Established in 2016, among the frontline veterinary services provided by these district offices include animal dispersal, animal health, and livelihood, among others.

During yesterday’s activity, participating field unit personnel paid courtesy visits to local government officials of Kabankalan City and Cauayan.

They were also exposed to various farm practices at the Animal Breeding and Genetic Improvement Center in Kabankalan City.

Part of the cross visit was a meeting with Marlon Cajenta at Barangay Tapi, also in Kabankalan City.

Cajenta is a Pasidungog Awardee most innovative category and regional awardee as a small animal raiser of the Department of Agriculture.

Moreover, the activity is also participated by district veterinarians namely Dr. Ma. Regina Gawan–District 1; Dr. Emgie Biera-Gaspan–District 3; and Dr. Tisha Canson–District 6.

“We will continue to conduct cross visits to other district field offices in the provinces,” Novero said, adding that improving the delivery of services to the raisers while further capacitating personnel is a priority measure of PVO.
