PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula holds Swat competition

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has conducted competition among the Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) team here in the region.

Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the competition is in line with the Philippine National Police's Master Training Action Plan for Calendar Year 2018, which aims to enhance the “effectiveness and efficiency” as well as the tactical proficiency of every Swat units.

Beltran said the Swat team of Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) emerged as the champion in the City Police Station category.

The Dipolog City Police Office followed the ZCPO as 1st runner up while the team from Pagadian City Police Office came in as 2nd runner up.

The Swat team of Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Mobile Forces Company topped the competition for the Public Safety Forces Category while the Regional Mobile Forces Battalion 9 and Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Forces Company were on the 1st and 2nd runner up position, respectively.

In the PNP-Bureau of Jail Management Category (Guest Participants), the 5th Special Action Battalion of the PNP SAF dominated the competition.

They battalion also bag the Best in Pistol Match and adjudged as overall champion of the four-day competition.

The BJMP-Zamboanga Peninsula and Aviation Security Group 9 came in as 1st and 2nd runner up, respectively.

The ZCPO Swat Team who was led by Police Inspector Ahmed Czar A Astapan, also awarded as Best in Rifle match.

The ZCPO Swat team will represent the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula in the 2nd National Swat Challenge that will be held this September of this year.

Beltran said the 2nd PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula Swat Competition was held at the four different venue-- Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Ipil and Zamboanga City, respectively from August 6 to 10.

The competition was anchored with the four events, namely: Event 1 (Bus Assault); Event 2 (Especially for You-Transition); Event 3 (The sniper initiated assault and door breaking); and, Event 4 (Pistol Pintakasi with obstacle course). (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
