FURNITURE industry players see a high demand for their products this month with the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.

“Para sa karung bulana jud, dako-dako jud ang makuha kay Kadayawan man, (Especially for this month, bigger sales is expected to be gained because of Kadayawan Festival),” Lennie Sabado of Spacebar Drift Wood said in an interview at Farm and Garden Agri Trade Fair on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at SM Grounds, Ecoland, Matina, Davao City.

Sabado added because of the high rate of tourists and guests coming in the city in celebration of the Kadayawan Festival, the Dabawenyo market is not the only one patronizing their furnitures.

“Naa baya puy makaabot gikan Manila, naa puy uban sa Cebu ug Gensan. Makaabot pud baya sila diria dili lang para muselebrar sa pista, pero mamalit ug mga gamit pud sama sa mga furniture, (There are others who come from Manila, others are from Cebu and Gensan. They come here not only to celebrate the festival but also to buy things like furniture),” Jun Arcelio, another furniture business owner at the trade fair said in an interview.

Sabado added most of the customers look for quality products especially that they are looking for furniture that would last for decades.

“Ang gusto man gud sa among mga customers kay kanang dili anayon. Lig-on man ang ubang klase sa kahoy apan pagkadugayan anayun ra gihapon, (What the customers want are those which do not get pestered by termites. Other woods are durable but still get to be pestered by termites in the long run,)” Sabado said.

Sabado added they sell Magkono or the Iron Tree from Surigao. She said their table sets range from P30,000 to P100,000.

Sabado said though the supply remains stable; the demand for the Magkono-made furniture is still high.
