New wage order's first tranch on August 16

THE first tranche of P30 pesos wage increase under the Wage Order No. RB XI-20 in Davao Region is set to take effect on Thursday, August 16.

After its publication last August 1 the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-Davao announced that the implementation of the wage increase of P56 pesos in Davao Region will be in two tranches. This increase is a result of the public hearing conducted by the RTWPB for its motu proprio review of Wage Order RB XI-19 last June 6.

For the first tranche, new minimum wage rates for non-agriculture/industrial/commercial and retail or service employing more than 10 workers will now be P370 from P340; Agriculture industry will now be P365 from P335; and retail or service employing not more than 10 workers will now be P355 from P325.

The second tranche of the wage increase of P26 will take effect on February 16, 2018. Upon the full implementation of Wage Order No. RB XI-20, rates of P396 for non-agriculture/industrial/commercial and retail or service employing more than 10 workers; P391 for agriculture industry; and P381 retail or service employing not more than 10 workers will be implemented.

The wage order poses no exemption from compliance except in cases of calamity where the Board may accept applications for exemption for establishments adversely affected by calamities such as natural and/or human-induced disasters subject to the NWPC Guidelines No. 02, series of 2007 as amended by NWPC Resolution No. 01, series of 2014.
