DTI-NorMin rolls out 2nd regional ‘Mentor Me’ program

MORE than 90 entrepreneurs and aspiring business operators from all over Northern Mindanao has participated during the launching of the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) second regional Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) program last July 31.

Among the 94 mentees, 25 were from Misamis Oriental, 24 from Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte had 23, and Misamis Occidental had 20.

According to DTI-Northern Mindanao, all 94 entrepreneurs were pre-selected by the corresponding provincial offices. They will go through ten modules in 11 week, it added.

At the end of the 11-week program, DTI said the mentees are expected to be equipped with the right entrepreneurial mindset and basic business management skills.

“All modules under the KMME program are designed to shape MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) so they can scale up their businesses in terms of competence and resilience in domestic and international markets,” DTI stated.

Kapatid Mentor Me Program is a coaching and mentoring project that seeks to help micro and small business scale up thru sessions done by mentors, who are business owners or practitioners across different functional areas of entrepreneurship.

The department launched the program in Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental.

Last February, DTI-Northern Mindanao launched its first regional KMME wherein 118 MSMEs were qualified to finish the program.

Meanwhile, the first batch of the Enhanced Business Learning System (EBLS) in Bukidnon is expected to graduate in August 2018.

The EBLS is a strategy to develop the capabilities of MSMEs that are not qualified to enrol in the KMME.

The first batch of EBLS participants started their training during the launching of the program last May 17.
