ILOILO City Government plans to put up a fire brigade in every barangay for immediate assistance of any fire incidents.
The plan was tackled by Mayor Jose Espinosa III on August 14 following the recent fire incident that occurred in barangays Calubihan and Taytay Zone 2 in Jaro district on August 11.
The firemen faced difficulties in entering small areas which caused delay in putting out the fire.
To alleviate the problem, Espinosa said that he already tasked the barangays to organize fire brigades.
In an interview with Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon on August 14, he concurs with the idea as long they can train these people to fill up the fire brigade roles.
Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo said that he will sponsor the said legislation on the next regular session. (Carolyn Jane Abello)
