A FOUR-month-old baby girl died when she fell on the floor after her father tossed her to her mother inside their house at Barangay Patag in Silay City, Negros Occidental Monday night, August 13.
Killed was Mary Jane Cusay.
Superintendent Noel Polines, city police chief, said the victim was already crying when her father Marjun Cusay, 40, arrived home. He was reportedly drunk.
Marjun got irritated with her daughter’s cry, prompting him to throw her child to her mother, Rutchel Marabulas, 22, who failed to catch her.
The baby hit a bamboo post and fell on the floor.
Polines said the parents did not even bring the child to a hospital.
It was Marjun who informed the village chief about the incident the following day, he added.
Police arrested Marjun at their residence Tuesday morning, August 14.
He is detained at the police station for the filing of the parricide charges.
Polines said Marabulas’s mother, the grandmother of the child, will stand as complainant against Marjun.
Meanwhile, Marjun, in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, said he regretted what happened and he asked for forgiveness.
"It was not my intention to commit the crime," he added.
