P2.9-M ‘shabu’ seized in anti-narcotics busts

NEARLY P3 million worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was seized from two drug personalities by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon and Meycauayan police in a drug bust conducted in Barangay Malhacan, Meycauayan, Bulacan on Tuesday.

In a report furnished SunStar Pampanga, PDEA-Central Luzon Director Gil Pabilona identified the suspects as John Paul Palanca, 38, a resident of Lingonan, Valenzuela City, and Marivic Solveto, 38, a resident of Marilao, Bulacan. They were arrested during the drug bust conducted at a fast food chain in the said barangay.

The drug sting yielded one large plastic sachet and two medium plastic sachet both containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with a combined weight of around 500 grams, with a street value estimated at P2.9 million and the money used in the operation.

Pabilona said that the high impact operation was a result of a month-long casing and surveillance of PDEA operatives against the identified suspects which are allegedly source of illegal drugs.

“Our undercover agents were able to make a drug deal with the suspects for the purchase of half kilo of shabu for P1.8 million. The suspects agreed to meet at Valenzuela City but later on decided to do it in Meycauayan,” Pabilona added.

Palanca and Solveto are now temporarily detained at the PDEA Jail Facility in Barangay Maimpis, City of San Fernando. Violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) in relation to section 26 paragraph B (conspiracy to sell), Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied for filing in court.
