Bizman to file charges against ‘land-grabbers’

AN OWNER of a posh golf course is set to file charges against a group of individuals who allegedly occupied a portion of his property.

Ruperto Cruz, owner of the Royal Garden Golf and Country Club in Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City, said the group came into his property last week on board a jeepney and a pick-up truck.

According to the businessman, the men laid out a picnic blanket on the grass before plowing a parcel of the field near the golf course with a tractor and other farm implements.

The empty field which the suspects occupied is adjacent to the golf greens, mansions, resort, hotels, chapels, a clubhouse, a privately-owned satellite communications radar, restaurants including the popular convention center Grand Palazzo Royale and Ciocolo Coffee Shop, Cruz said.

The group reportedly planted mongo seedlings after cultivating and preparing for the land.

Cruz, owner of the 140-hectare property, said he acquired the property legally supported with documents like transfer certificate of titles (TCTs), environmental clearance certificate, a Department of Agrarian Reform conversion, mayor’s permit and a business permit.

The businessman said he also has a favorable court resolution which he got after 18 years of litigation with some of the claimants.

Cruz said the group destroyed the perimeter fence near hole number 12 on the golf course before entering the property.

Policemen from the nearby Cuayan Police Station responded but were told by the group that area is already under the territorial jurisdiction of nearby Porac town.

The city police quickly coordinated with their counterparts in Porac who documented the incident.
