SEVEN minors from Barangay Lorega, Cebu City are facing a criminal case in court for allegedly trying to kill their neighbor last Aug. 2.
Prosecutor Venice Balansag found evidence to charge the respondents with attempted murder before the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City.
Bail was recommended at P120,000 each. (SunStar Cebu is withholding their names since all of them are between 15 and 17 years old.)
Chars Sanchez, 22, said that he and his companions were inside the basketball court for a disco during the fiesta celebration in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Lorega, when one of the accused punched him from behind.
Sanchez said that he and his companions retaliated and chased the suspects, who fled toward M.J. Cuenco Ave.
But one of the accused pulled a gun and shot Sanchez, who was hit on his head. The rest of the respondents reportedly ganged up on Sanchez and attacked him with stones.
Although wounded, Sanchez managed to flee and sought help from the barangay tanods, who rushed him to the hospital.
Authorities conducted follow-up operations and caught up two of the suspects and seized a .38 caliber pistol from one of the accused. (GMD)
