LOURDES College will commemorate its 82nd Foundation Day from February 6 to 11 with a theme "LC @ 82: Empowering people for a better Community."
This momentous event, along with theme, extends to the society not only in its quest for academic excellence but for the holistic development of its clientele over the years as well.
The school has lined up many activities for this year's celebration. This includes the General Alumni Homecoming (Variety "Hali Na Mo' 10"), and a Jubilarian's Night that hopes to award and acknowledge graduates from the institution who contributed a lot to society.
There will also be hospital visitation and religious rites and celebration.
Founded by the late Archbishop James Hayes, S.J. in 1928, Lourdes College started as an elementary school for boys and girls with the name San Agustine Parochial School.
The need for high school and high Catholic education paved the way for the birth of Lourdes Academy. The Academy eventually became Lourdes Junior College as it offered Junior Normal and Home Economics courses and eventually, Lourdes College was born. Its patroness is Our Lady of Lourdes.
Today, Lourdes College offers programs in elementary, secondary, undergraduate and graduate levels. Its academic offerings include Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Nursing, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Accountancy. Its teacher Education, Arts and Sciences and Business and Accountancy Programs received Level III accreditation from Paascu in 2007 while its grade school and high school received accreditation status from Paascu as well.
Lourdes College has two campuses -- one in Macasandig housing the basic education and the main building is located along Capistrano-Hayes Sts., accommodating the undergraduate and graduate programs.
A co-ed Catholic institution owned by the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters, Lourdes College looks forward to more years of commitment to its vision and mission and in the journey of living Faith, Excellence and Services.
