WITH an array of activities lined up for Kadayawan Festival, revelers will not need worry about jumping from one place to another with the Libreng Sakay sa Kadayawan.
Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson said Kadayawan festival-goers could keep their fares in their pockets and experience the free bus rides in identified routes.
“Mas magiging convenient para sa ating mga bisita at sa ating mga Dabawenyos ang pag-ikot dito sa Davao lalong lalo na may nagrereklamo na traffic. Just park your vehicle kung saan yong mga areas na malapit sa bus stops at punta po kayo sa bus stops and hop on the bus,” Tecson said.
They clarified that although it is not yet part of the High Priority Bus System (HPBS) of the local government, however, the idea is still the same as the city targets to shift from public utility jeepneys to bus system to address the growing transportation demand.
The free bus service will start at 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.. The bus stops are at SM Lanang, Abreeza Mall, Victoria Plaza, Gaisano Mall, Magsaysay Park, Ateneo Roxas, People's Park, City Hall (Back), John Paul II College of Davao and SM City Davao. The routes may change due to road closure for Kadayawan major events on August 18 and 19.
The Davao City Transport and Traffic Office (CTTMO) identified the routes which have Kadayawan indoor and outdoor activities and better parking spaces should visitors opt to ride the bus and leave their vehicles.
“It will give our visitors in Davao an idea of what’s going to happen in Davao for the next few months because this is a project of the city so eventually, ito yong mode of transportation natin sa Davao,” she added.
With this free ride bus, she said that tourists will have the chance to witness all the activities and get to their destinations hassle-free.
The four 61-seater buses sponsored by Vallacar Transit Incorporated could load up to 70 passengers as some could stand. It is equipped with Close Circuit Television (CCTV), Global Positioning System (GPS) to monitor the location of the bus, monitors for entertainment, Wifi access, and air-conditioning, offering a more comfortable transportation experience for the riders.
