THE Awesome OS, formerly Offsourcing Philippines, recovered from a third set loss to dethrone defending champion Alorica, 25-20, 25-20, 25-27, 25-22, in the 2018 Davao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) men's volleyball finals at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Event Center over the weekend.

Awesome OS, led by Jay Ar Puertos who fired 23 markers, exacted revenge against their finals tormentor last year.

"We never prepared for something to upset them but to give them a good fight. We all know that they have the most powerful players this season. From the starting six to the reserved players, they are really good," Coach Jeo Metuda said in an interview.

He said each player had a role in the team.

"One can never be a good player without the help of everyone. Puertos delivered powerful attacks because the setter executed set plays properly. Our libero Ken Miranda provided exceptional defense on the floor and others worked on their respective assignments," Metuda added.

The team, according to him, also capitalized on working together as a unit.

The two-month league, he said, was an experiment to them. Converting the players from one position to another was a big risk. "But it worked out. The title match was the hardest game that we waited and anticipated for."

Awesome OS was also bannered by Jabar Umpar, Michael Cortado, Dave Claro, Michael Lisondra, Jovannie Estorba, Gabrielle Gomez, Robert Hernando Kong, Luigi Miranda, Jonn Roff Puertos, Eric Cay-an, Patrick Rabat, Jason Abrahan, Ernell and Carl Ampit with head coach Zeek Laud.

Ibex Global, for its part, placed third by beating Teleperformance, 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 25-21.

In the distaff side, Alorica volleybelles retained its crown via a 25-15, 25-19 demolition of Awesome OS.
