35 persons nabbed, P25-M drugs seized in Bohol, Negros Oriental ops

SIMULTANEOUS anti-criminality operations on Thursday dawn, August 16, in Bohol and Negros Oriental resulted in the arrest of 35 persons and confiscation of P25-million worth of illegal drugs.

The operations against drug personalities were authorized by search warrants issued by courts.

Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, Police Regional Office-Central Visayas's deputy director for operations, said the biggest haul happened in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The arrest of Janmark Abadilla led to the seizure of two kilos of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P23.6 million.

Abadilla also yielded P113,290 cash believed to be proceeds of his illegal activities, a .38 revolver loaded with 11 bullets, weighing scale, two cell phones and drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday night, August 15, two newly identified pushers Jason Manosur Bulgado and Mark Matias Canillo were arrested in Barangay Mayabon.

In Bohol, two personalities were killed in separate shootouts with the police on Thursday, August 16.

Joel Vergara Olalo was shot dead after he opened fire at an operative using a .45 pistol at 4:30 a.m. in Barangay Suba, Anda. The operative was hit, but he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

At 8:10 a.m., alleged high-value target Eddie Vaño was killed in Barangay Bicao, Carmen.

Other operatives from Bohol Provincial Police Office caught 32 persons for illegal drugs and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Operatives seized 116.74 grams of shabu worth P1.6 million, 26 loose firearms with three guns surrendered, and a grenade. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
