Vicente: Cadet life: 2018 PMA Intramurals

THE Philippine Military Academy (PMA) being a “premier military institution” seeks the very best standard for their cadets who are expected to be future leaders of this country.

Although their training only lasts for four years inside the academy, cadets are greatly influenced with the tenets of courage, integrity and loyalty as a guide to hone their character as future military officers and gentlemen that will serve the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the country and its people.

Four years of rigorous training includes academics, sports and physical development and military training are the challenges every cadet must hurdle in order to graduate and soon join the “noble profession of arms.”

Contrary to beliefs that military is more of physical than mental is neither true nor false because being a soldier requires bought mental, physical plus emotional and spiritual stability in order to survive training and fulfill the job when assigned as a military.

Intramurals for the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines (CCAFP) is an activity that every cadet looks forward to like other institutions.

PMA holds its intramurals with the same objectives as other schools but more than the common objectives cadets look at intramurals not only to showcase their physical ability and represent what they call “Company Pride” (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf and Hawk).

Cadets look at intramurals as a moment of fun, frolics and enjoyment. Although it is in a competition setting, cadets for a moment can think of just expressing themselves through sports against their fellow cadets with no boundary of upper class or underclass.

Contrary to notion that sports is just physical, cadets showcase intelligence in planning their strategies to rule every sport and try to dominate each and every event to capture the coveted Jurado Cup for their respective company.

This year, Lieutenant General Donato San Juan II, PMA superintendent graced the occasion, The 2018 CCAFP Intramurals on its 1st phase will showcase badminton, basketball, volleyball, wushu, boxing, judo, arnis, taekwondo, marathon, lawn and table tennis, archery, baseball, swimming, football, sepak takraw, cheer dance, and chess.

The 2018 PMA CCAFP Intramurals themed: “Exemplifying Leadership and Character through sports” will be held on August 18 to 22 at the Jurado Hall. Opening will be on the 18th scheduled at 9 a.m.

It will be a five–day event of pure sports and competitive atmosphere for the pride of the cadet’s respective company representations.
