Traffic office to strictly implement towing

AS PART of the preparation for Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan and Pamulak sa Kadayawan, the Davao City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO) will “strictly” implement towing of violators' vehicles starting 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 18.

“Kung naa ta maabtan na naka-parking diha, ato gyud nang i-towing to give way sa parade (If we find vehicles that are parking on restricted areas, we will tow the vehicles to give way to the parade),” CTTMO Chief Dionisio Abude said during the I-Speak forum at the City Engineering and Building Office on Thursday, August 16.

Abude said when the vehicle is abandoned, the first step the enforcer should do is to find the driver. Once the driver cannot be found within the vicinity for a certain period of time then the vehicle will be towed.

He also said that in case the driver resists, the driver could face another charge on top of violating the city ordinance like illegal parking.

Meanwhile, Abude said they will notify the drivers by putting and giving out flyers days before the implementation of the No Parking rule for Kadayawan festival celebration.

Abude also said there are still areas without No Parking signs, so as long as the vehicle cannot obstruct, drivers could park there since it is expected that a lot of people will bring their own vehicles.

There will be 375 traffic enforcers to be deployed during the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan and Pamulak sa Kadayawan then another 125 volunteers from Traffic Community Network.
