Morales installed as Davao Police regional director

Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo C. Morales was installed as the new regional director of the Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO 11) during the turnover of command ceremony Thursday, August 16, at Camp Sergeant Quintin Merecido in Davao City.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde said Morales has his trust and confidence.

Albayalde said he believed that Morales could ensure the region’s safety and security and run after criminals in the region.

Albayalde advised the newly-installed regional director to be always on his toes and never be relaxed in addressing the peace and security concerns of the region. He also expressed his high expectation as he starts to lead the PRO 11.

“Gaya ng sinabi ko sa commanders on the ground at gaya ng binilin ng ating Pangulo ng sinabi niya ay magtrabaho at gawin ang tama,” Albayade reminded Morales.

The selection of the new commander was done by the oversight committee who unanimously approved the installation of Morales after the evaluation of his performance. Albayalde said that when they presented it to the President, he likewise approved.

Morales, meanwhile, vowed to continue what Police Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan started including the anti-criminality, anti-illegal drugs, internal cleansing and anti-insurgency campaign.

“I am extremely honored but greatly humbled for being designated as the head of PRO 11 by our chief PNP. Thank you for the trust and confidence and I will do my best to make me worthy of this by way of doing what is right and what is required of me as a regional director and surpass what is expected of me,” Morales said.

Morales is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ’87. He is a native of Sta. Rosa Laguna. He used to be the deputy regional director for administration in PRO 11 and director of PNP Maritime Group.

His previous assignment was in PRO 12 wherein he had a stint as regional director. PRO 12, under his lead, was awarded by President Rodrigo Duterte with the highest recognition for the most honorable accomplishment against terrorism during the 117th Police Service Anniversary held at Camp Crame. His Regional Mobile Force was also awarded as the Best Regional Mobile Force.
